A DRINK-DRIVER is facing prison after admitting killing another man.
Shawn Sandford pleaded guilty to causing the death of Graham Pinnington, 23, through careless driving while over the drink-drive limit.
Sandford, 39, had 99mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood when he crashed at Marshalls Cross Road in St Helens on June 22, 2008. The legal limit is 80mg.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Sandford, of Fleet Lane, St Helens, has three previous convictions for driving while over the limit.
The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe, QC, told Sandford: “It seems, at the moment, inevitable to me that there must be a custodial sentence.
“The question is the length of that sentence.
“I will need to consider that when I have fully digested the circumstances of the prosecution case, seen the reports and heard all the mitigation.”
He bailed Sandford until February 5, when he will be sentenced.
Judge Globe also imposed an interim driving ban.
