His brother last night issued a plea for him to hand himself in.
Paul Finlay, 55, said his brother seemed increasingly troubled in recent months.
The landlord of the Heather Brow, in Claughton, said the 46-year-old appeared to be dwelling on the split with his wife Debbie, the sister of Mr McKenna’s wife, five years ago.
Mr Finlay said: “I last spoke to Gary before Christmas. The police are ringing three times a day but if we knew anything we’d tell them.”
The murder weapon, a knife, is yet to be recovered.
