Crosby flyover crash causes traffic chaos

A MULTIPLE car crash on the busy Seaforth flyover caused major backlogs for traffic heading towards Crosby during yesterday afternoon’s rush hour

Police said five people received minor injuries in the accident, which involved four vehicles on the north-bound carriageway of the flyover.

All three emergency services were called to the scene of the accident, which happened shortly after 5pm.

Firefighters helped the ambulance crew release one female from her vehicle. She was taken to Aintree hospital, along with a male driver from another car.

Both had received hip, leg, or back injuries.

Three other males were slightly injured but did not need hospital treatment.

An eye-witness said: "The traffic backlog was absolutely horrendous. It looked as if the cars may have hit the central reservation on the flyover."

The road was cleared by about 7.30pm.
