Wirral raiders wreck newly opened British Red Cross charity shop

A CHARITY shop was broken into by thieves who caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage a day after it was officially opened.

The British Red Cross shop was broken into on Friday evening and a new clothing steamer, valued at £400, was stolen.

The loss and damage to the shop at 275 Hoylake Road is estimated at more than £1,500.

Lynne McMahon, British Red Cross retail manager said: “I can’t believe someone could do this to a charity shop.

“Louise, our shop manager, was really shaken up by the break-in.

“She arrived to see the gates at the back of the shop were broken and there was glass everywhere.
