Veronica Ward, of West Kirby, receives the award for services to Girl Guiding in West Kirby, along with Alistair and Jean Strachen, Lower Bebington, for their work with Leasowe Swimming Club for people with disabilities.

Wendy Darlington, of Burton, is honoured for charity work for Claire House and others, and Patricia Clare, from Oxton, for her services to the 26th Birkenhead Cub Scouts Group. Patrick Toosey, of Oxton, will receive the award for his role in the Oxton Society and Hubert Grunnill, from Upton, for services to community development in the Upton/Woodchurch area.

All the recipients will receive their awards from Mayor Adrian Jones at a ceremony in Wallasey Town hall at 7pm, on February 25.
