A YOUNG man will be sentenced today for handling goods stolen from Liverpool star Lucas Leiva’s home.

Sporting mementoes, including an Olympic bronze medal from Beijing, were taken from the Brazilian midfielder’s Woolton home when it was burgled on November 4 last year.

Steven Jones appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video-link from Walton prison yesterday.

The 21-year-old, of Deansburn Road, Tuebrook, admitted handling stolen goods.

He will be brought before the court today to be sentenced by Judge Brian Lewis.

Jones’s co-accused, Robyn Mutch, pleaded not guilty to the same charge.

The 19-year-old, of Redbrook Street, Anfield, was arrested after officers seized a Sony PSP player which was stolen in the break-in.

Mutch has always insisted she had no involvement or knowledge of the burglary or that the Sony item was stolen.

The court heard the charges against her will now lie on the file.

Thieves broke into Leiva’s home while the midfielder played at Anfield in a European match against Athletico Madrid.
