Disabled to get £4m in grants

LIVERPOOL City Council has awarded more than £4m in grants for disabled people to adapt their homes.

By the end of March, more than 400 homes will have been adapted, improving living conditions for disabled people.

Liverpool Council funded the extra £2m on top of £2.1m received from the Government.

Cllr Marilyn Fielding, executive member for safer, stronger communities, said: “This is a great achievement as we are helping improve quality of life for a significant number of our city’s residents and are committed to ensuring the programme continues in subsequent years.”

Residents can apply for up to £30,000 which include stairlifts, level access showers and extensions for sleeping or bathing.
