Driver seriously injured after collision

A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a road traffic collision.

The 43-year-old was driving a red Peugeot 406 along Seabank Road, near the junction of Manor Road, in Wallasey, when it crashed into a tree.

It happened at around 10.30am yesterday outside the Lonsdale Trust charity and an ambulance responding to an emergency was also on the road at the time.

The driver is in a stable condition in Arrowe Park hospital.

A witness said there had been a loud smash at around 10.30am.

The car, a red Peugeot 406, was still in place four hours later, with the carriageway blocked.

Police have carried out house to house inquiries seeking witnesses.

A MAN was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a crash which caused a five-hour road closure.

It happened on the A5080 in Cronton, near Widnes, at around 11.05am yesterday.

The driver of a white Transit van left Cronton Road and crashed into a tree in a nearby field.

He suffered a number of injuries but they are not believed to be life- threatening.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Whiston Hospital.

Merseyside Police closed off the road for five hours while a full investigation was carried out.
