Tory in cash attack on city museums

A SENIOR Tory was under fire last night after describing funding for Liverpool’s museums as “burning taxpayers’ money on a quango gravy train”.

Francis Maude, the former Conservative chairman, was condemned after launching a stinging attack on Britain’s so-called “non-departmental public bodies” (NDPBs)

They include National Museums Liverpool (NML), and also the Human Tissue Authority, set up to prevent a repeat of the organ retention scandal at Alder Hey Hospital.
