The mother of Rhys Jones’s killer could be thrown out of her home after admitting lying to detectives investigating the schoolboy’s murder.
Yesterday Janette Mercer, 49, admitted perverting the course of justice at Liverpool Crown Court and was told she faced custody when she is sentenced on 1 April.
And today, with Mercer given bail in order to organise her personal and domestic life, her housing association confirmed they want her out of the home where killer Sean Mercer, 18, lived before being jailed for 22 years in December.
The mother of three is set to lose her tidy semi-detached home in Good Shepherd Close, Croxteth, Liverpool, after Riverside Housing organised a file of reasons to evict her.
On 25 February officials from the housing association will go to Liverpool County Court in a bid to win an eviction order.
A spokesman for Berrybridge Housing, an arm of Riverside Housing, said tonight: "We can confirm possession proceedings have begun.
"A court hearing will decide whether our application for possession against the female tenant of the house is successful."
Mercer lied about her knowledge of her killer son’s mountain bikes when she was interviewed by police following the 11-year-old’s murder.
The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe QC, told her she faced a lengthy prison spell.
Her son was jailed for life last year following a three-month trial.
