ARTS organisations have found out which of them will receive a slice of more than £8m of post-Capital of Culture funding.
A total of 67 different bodies, from theatres to festivals and ethnic arts groups, bid successfully for a share of the pot.
Liverpool council said it chose the successful bids according to how they could contribute to the city’s “cultural offering” or innovate at grassroots level.
It also said the move represents a “radically altered approach to the arts”. But critics claimed that some organisations lost out through the new process.
While the Everyman, Fact, Liverpool Biennial, the Philharmonic, Unity and Bluecoat have all received funding in previous years, this year the DaDa Fest will join their ranks, in line to receive a share of £6.2m until April 2011.
Cllr Gary Millar, executive member for enterprise and tourism, said: “This investment will help our cultural partners deliver a programme befitting an internationally renowned city of culture.”
