MARIE CURIE nurses joined fundraisers yesterday at Sefton Park to launch the charity’s Daffodil Field of Hope Walk.
The circular tour on Sunday April 5 celebrates the 50th anniversary of Marie Curie’s Liverpool Hospice in Woolton.
It begins at the Sunflower Centre, next door to the hospice on Speke Road, and walkers will follow a scenic route through the parks and woodlands of south Liverpool.
Denise Billows, who has been nursing at the hospice for 18 years, she said: “It really is a beautiful walk, and the money it raises makes such a difference to our patients and their families.
“We simply couldn’t continue to provide the care we do without the kindness of the people taking part in this type of event for our hospice.”
The walk is approximately 10 miles and will take about 3-4 hours to complete, and there is the option to finish the walk in Sefton Park after five miles.
Fundraising manager Jane Wilkinson added: “The Liverpool walk has really gone from strength to strength, last year’s event raised just under £40,000 with over 300 walkers taking part. It was really inspiring to see so many people walking together in support of our charity.”
