THE heartbroken parents of a father-of-two yesterday spoke of their loss after their son died seven months after a brutal assault.
David Argent, 30, was found collapsed on the third floor of flats on Woodlands Walk, Castlefields, Runcorn, at around 9.30pm on July 12.
He had suffered severe head injuries after what detectives described as a sustained beating and was rushed to Walton Hospital in Liverpool.
Mr Argent, of Widnes, never regained consciousness since the attack and died on Friday at a hospice in Runcorn with his distraught parents at his bedside.
In a statement, parents Michael and Janet said: “The past seven months have been torture for us, seeing our son in that condition and knowing it was just a matter of time before he died.
“We have been left devastated.”
