The school-aged parents of premature twins have told of their joy after welcoming one of their sons home.
Samantha Humphries and Daniel Sargent have taken a few weeks off school to get used to caring for Liam who, along with his brother Ryan, was born three months early.
His homecoming on Saturday coincided with his father Daniel's 16th birthday.
Ryan will remain at Liverpool Women’s Hospital until doctors say he is strong enough to join the family at their Southport home.
His mother Sammii, 15, spoke of her shock at finding herself pregnant with twins at 14.
And she told how she and her high school sweetheart Daniel were coping with the baby boys, who were born last October.
Sammii said: “I can’t believe Liam is home so soon. I just can’t stop looking at him.
“I just want to get Ryan home too so we can be a family.
Daniel said: “It’s quite shocking because I didn’t think he would be home this early and I was glad because it was my birthday. It was the best present anyone could get.
“He settled in really well when we brought him into the house and he just fell asleep. We got him up for his feeds and he just fell straight back to sleep after.”
