CONCERT promoters today took the unusual step of launching a website for touts to sell tickets.
They hope their “robust” security will stop music lovers being ripped off by unscrupulous sites offering tickets for sold out events.
The Concert Promoters Association (CPA) estimates more than £100,000 is lost each year by fans who pay money for tickets which the seller either does not have, or are not of the claimed quality.
They have created a ticket selling site called OfficialBoxOffice.com, which will force touts to reveal information such as the exact seat and face value of their tickets.
Purchase references and ticket numbers will also have to be provided so promoters can check they are genuine.
