Curtain down on Liverpool's Capital of Culture year with final celebratory evening

THE Culture Company paid a final farewell to 2008 last night with a special thank you event.

Held at the BT Convention Centre at Echo Arena Liverpool, the occasion saw representatives from the city’s arts organisations, culture year corporate sponsors and others involved in the events of 2008 gather for one last time before, as chairman Bryan Gray put it, “we finally switch off the lights at the Culture Company”.

“2008 made Liverpool great again,” said City Council leader Warren Bradley.

“This is my personal way, on behalf of the people of the city of Liverpool, but also from me, to say thanks very much to everybody who played their part in making Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture year a success.”
