POLICE are hunting an armed gang after a knife-point robbery at the home of another Premiership footballer away on duty with his club.
Hayley Grice, the fiancee of Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher, was grabbed by the hair and forced to hand over her engagement ring after hooded robbers held a knife to her throat.
Her mother was also manhandled and forced to hand over jewellery at knife-point after three men kicked in the front door and burst into the living room of the player’s £1.5m mansion in Bowdon, Greater Manchester.
The young couple’s twin sons, Jack and Tyler, were asleep at the time.
Police yesterday described the raid as a “cowardly attack” done in the knowledge the man of the house was away. Fletcher, 25, is thought to be the 14th Premiership player to have been targeted in Manchester and Merseyside in the past three years.
