A TEACHER who formed an inappropriate relationship with one of his pupils and sent her texts while she was on holiday was banned indefinitely from the classroom yesterday.
Stephen Carr did not attend a General Teaching Council (GTC) misconduct hearing to contest an allegation that his relationship with the student constituted unacceptable professional conduct.
The misconduct panel, sitting in Birmingham, was told Carr exchanged texts with the girl and sent her a Valentine’s card while teaching at a secondary school in the Newcastle City Council area between January, 2001, and April, 2006.
Carr, of High Pittington, County Durham, went to the girl’s home in October, 2005, and apologised to her parents for texting.
He later resigned from teaching.
