Business tourism wins £2m boost

BUSINESS tourism in the North West is to receive a £2m boost, it has been announced.

The new funding, from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), aims to strengthen the region’s reputation as a premier business tourism destination.

The investment, which will be channelled through the five tourist boards in the North West, will also be used to identify new business opportunities and bid for major international conferences, as well as improving marketing and monitoring of performance.

The NWDA said business tourism is a vital part of the region’s visitor economy, generating 25.6m trips a year worth £2.1bn.

It draws high spending tourists.
