Chester bus and rail link ‘vital’ for airport
PASSENGERS flying from Liverpool are forced to drive to the airport because of a transport black hole in Cheshire, MPs were told yesterday.
John Lennon Airport boss Neil Pakey said passengers were “crying out” for a bus service from Chester to make it easier to catch their flights. Mr Pakey is also pushing to fully restore the Halton Curve, which would create a direct rail service from Chester to Liverpool South Parkway, at a cost of £11m.
Giving evidence to the Welsh Affairs Committee’s investigation into cross-border public services, he said: “It [the region] is crying out for a bus service from Chester.”
