Fresh evidence has led to the sentencing of a Wirral van driver convicted of a sex attack being adjourned.

THE sentencing of a delivery driver, convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, has been adjourned because fresh evidence has come to light.

Anthony Rimmer was found unanimously guilty of groping the 18-year-old girl in the back of his van.

Jurors at Liverpool Crown Court also convicted him of falsely imprisoning the teenager, who cannot be named, after picking her up on the Wirral, on August 26 last year.

Rimmer, 47, of Oakfield Road, Walton, was warned he faced jail and was due to be sentenced yesterday.

But his barrister, Neville Biddle, asked for the hearing to be adjourned due to pictures on the web alleged to be of the victim.

Mr Biddle said: “If it is her, it would have been admissible during the trial and, if the jury had heard it, it could have reasonably affected their decision.”
