A ST HELENS steel company has secured a £217,000 grant to fund an expansion programme.
Hi-Tech Steel Services, based in Bold Industrial Park, Neills Road, has got the cash from the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA).
It will put the money towards the cost of a new piece of machinery which will safeguard 20 jobs and create a further five. Greg Harris, from the Widnes office of accountants Mitchell Charlesworth, acted for Hi-Tech and managed the application process to secure the funding from the NWDA’s Grant for Business Investment scheme.
The new purpose-built slitter machine, worth £900,000, is being imported from Italy and will enable the company to increase production.
Director Steve Wells said: “This machine will transform our production capability and also enable us to target new markets, which in the long-term will mean expansion and new jobs.”
“Securing the grant funding was crucial for us to embark on this major investment.”
