Shivering terrier left tied to tree

AN ELDERLY terrier was abandoned and found shivering and tied to a tree in Wirral.

A member of the public found the female black, tan and white cross breed around 11am on Sunday, February 1.

She was tied up on a patch of woodland next to a motorway embankment in woodland close to Lees Lane, Ellesmere Port.

She was tied to a tree with a pink leather lead that had silver heart-shaped studs along it, and was shivering with cold but uninjured.

RSPCA inspector Cara Challinor said: “This dog was abandoned on one of the coldest days of the year, so not only would she have been frightened and distressed but also very uncomfortable.

“She is healthy and was in good bodily condition when we found her, so it seems like she was once owned by someone very recently.

“It’s appalling that this elderly dog was abandoned, especially in this freezing weather. If anyone has any information I urge them to call the RSPCA Cruelty & Advice Line on 0300 1234999.”
