Toxteth set to welcome BBC's Question Time

It is the second piece of positive news to emerge from Toxteth in recent weeks, following Liverpool council’s decision to award planning permission for a huge new Tesco store on Park Road.

Question Time has previously visited more high- profile locations in the city like St George’s Hall and The Anglican Cathedral.

One Somali youth, Yassin, said people were clamouring to book a seat in the audience, and emails had been “flying between friends” over the past few days in the race to get hold of tickets.

Gill Penlington, editor of Question Time, said: “The programme is always keen to visit new places and while the programme has been to the city centre before, it has never been broadcast from Toxteth.

“Hopefully, local residents will be keen to come along to be in the audience and have their say on the issues of the day.

“Toxteth has been at the heart of the political debate in the past – on March 12, it will host the political debate.

“Question Time is committed to hearing the views of people from all parts of the United Kingdom, so do apply if you live nearby.”

IF YOU live nearby and would like to apply to be in the audience, please contact Alison Fuller on 01299 829 299.
