FIVE puppies were found abandoned in a Kirkby garden on Monday.
The terrier cross puppies, aged six weeks, were taken to Fir Tree animal sanctuary, in Melling, after being discovered in a cat carrier.
One puppy, named Daisy by sanctuary staff, was suffering from both dehydration and hypothermia.
Paula Donohue, from the sanctuary, said: “Her temperature was 98F – the lowest we’ve ever seen.
“She was taken to the vets and put on a saline drip and a heat pad.”
Daisy and her siblings, Fizz, Bella, Milo and Jake, are now doing well.
The woman who found the dogs told the sanctuary she believed the puppies had been dumped in her garden because people locally knew her to be an animal lover.
