AN ARTIST is auctioning off a collection of cityscapes inspired by Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture for charity.
The series, which depicts nine of the world's great “Cities” and takes that name, was developed by Stephen Collett as a response to Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture.
Mr Collett, 25, from Bootle, said: “Our Capital of Culture year gave every artist in Liverpool the chance to produce pieces of work which signified our pride for our city, and this is how I see Liverpool, a thriving cultural capital which sits comfortably among the great cities of the world.
“I moved to Liverpool eight years ago for university and never left. I fell in love with the city, it has given me a lot of inspiration.
“I wanted these pieces to be recognisable as cities from a distance, yet up close they were slightly abstract and very impressionistic.
“Liverpool has an incredibly famous skyline which is known across the world. These paintings cement it in my mind as one of the most distinguishable.
“This is my Liverpool and this is how I see it.
“I am hoping to raise over £4,000 for four charities, two local and two national, which all have a different meaning to me.”
