MERSEYSIDE MPs have saluted a Liverpool “legend”.
They tabled a Commons motion marking the 60th anniversary of veteran city lawyer and newspaper columnist Rex Makin qualifying as a solicitor.
Knowsley MPs Eddie O’Hara and George Howarth listed some of his achievements, including his work on numerous high-profile cases such as the Hillsborough and Heysel stadium disasters, and giving legal advice to Brian Epstein on the recording contracts of The Beatles.
Mr O’Hara said: “He is credited with coining the term Beatlemania.
“He is a Liverpool legend in his lifetime.”
The motion will not be debated in Parliament, but is a device to pay tribute to people, organisations and causes.
