St Helens knifeman robs charity cash from priest

A PRIEST was robbed of his charity cash after being threatened by a man armed with a knife.

The 57-year-old victim answered the front door of his St Helens house shortly before midnight when he was confronted by the man.

The offender, who was armed with a knife, threatened him and demanded money.

He then left with cash from the priest's wallet and some charity donations.

Police said the victim was left feeling shocked and upset by the attack.

Detective Inspector Ged Seddon said: “This was a cowardly crime and it is despicable that money meant for charity was taken by this man.”

The robbery happened next to the St Vincent de Paul church, on Derbyshire Hill Road, last Thursday.
