POLICE are investigating a fire which destroyed a Walton tyre warehouse in the early hours of Tuesday.
The blaze, which ripped through Tyre Express, on Charnock Road, was declared suspicious by the fire service. CID were at the scene yesterday and a police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation was under way.
The fire, which broke out at 12.20 on Tuesday morning, was attended by firefighters from Croxteth, Aintree and Queens Drive.
The road was closed off by police at its junction with Stopgate Lane as high pressure jets were trained on the flames from the ground and an aerial platform.
Crews were still damping down the smouldering remains yesterday morning and investigators were also at the scene.
