A LIVERPOOL gangmaster has lost his appeal against having his business licence revoked.
Stephen Cartwright, manager of Cartwright Employment, in Kirkby, lost his licence for six major breaches of employment law.
And the Gangmaster Licensing Authority (GLA) found there was no evidence to counter their original findings that the breaches had taken place.
These included no evidence of workers being given payslips; no evidence of contracts or worker files; no records kept of the times and days the labour force worked; and there was no written agreement to confirm who was responsible for the health and safety of workers.
Mr Cartwright also said he had never checked the workers’ identities to ensure they had the right to work in the UK.
