Liverpool is UK’s most upwardly mobile city

LIVERPOOL is now regarded as the city most “on the way up” in the United Kingdom.

It is no longer perceived to be part of the “North”, and instead is seen as a unique location in its own right, alongside places like Edinburgh and York, with a distinct identity.

Major new research has found people around the country associate passion and spirit, big investment, and heritage with the city, as well as The Beatles and football.

The news comes as it was revealed that Liverpool is to be completely rebranded, following Culture Year, in a new vision which will take it forward for the next 15 years.

Negative associations like the Militant Tendency, poor industrial relations, and unemployment have now started to wane.

Researchers found the city’s successful year as Capital of Culture had created a notion that something positive was stirring in Liverpool, even in those that had not heard about 08.

The findings have helped inform a new logo and a vision for Liverpool until 2024 which will be launched on March 26.

Leaders hope residents and businesses will get behind it in much the same way they did for the Capital of Culture bid.

The research was commissioned by the city’s development agency, Liverpool Vision, to ensure the success of Capital of Culture was used as a launch pad for greater things.
