Armed robbery at Natwest bank in Wirral

TWO men are facing lengthy prison sentences after admitting an armed robbery at a Wirral bank.

During the raid on the NatWest bank, an elderly customer had a gun held to his side and a terrified cashier was also threat-ened with the weapon.

The robbers, who had their faces partially covered with balaclavas ordered the staff to hand over the takings, screaming: “Fill the f****** bag, give us your f****** money.”

Fearful staff handed over cash and the men fled with more than £3,000 in cash. But police quickly identified the raiders and they were arrested 48 hours later.

It is understood by the time they were tracked down they had already spent the cash after visiting a casino in Blackburn and lap-dancing clubs in Liverpool.

Andrew Colley, 23, of North Road, and Samuel Horner, 27, Malvern Grove, both Birkenhead, yesterday appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video-link from Walton prison in connection with the robbery.

Both men pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing an imitation firearm.
