Health and safety conference comes to Liverpool's BT Conference Centre

A GOLD medallist will join more than 2,000 health and safety professionals in Liverpool next week.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is holding its 2009 conference at the BT Convention Centre.

IOSH 09 will feature over 60 speakers from America, Brazil and Europe.

Broadcaster Krishnan Guru-Murthy will chair it, with talks from Lord McKenzie, parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for Work and Pensions; Geoffrey Podger, chief executive of the Health and Safety Executive; and Jan Jilek, head of health, safety and hygiene at work at the European Commission.

Olympic gold medallist Tim Brabants will close the event by sharing how he combines the sport of kayaking with his job as a doctor.
