Wizz Air to open new Prague link from Liverpool John Lennon airport

LOW-COST airline Wizz Air will launch a new route from Liverpool John Lennon airport to the Czech Republic capital of Prague from July 11.

The airline says one-way fares for the three-times-a- week flight on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will start from £12.99.

Wizz Air currently operates flights to the Polish cities of Warsaw, Katowice and Gdansk, which carried more than 200,000 passen-gers on their Liverpool services last year.

John Stephenson, Wizz Air chief commercial officer, said: “Liverpool has been an excellent market for us and since starting operations from here over four years ago we have carried over 700,000 passengers.

“While these are challenging times for all airlines, we continue to see real potential for growth at Liverpool, reflecting the importance of the airport in our network and the gateway role it plays in the north west of England.”

Neil Pakey, deputy chief executive of Liverpool airport owner Peel Airports, added: “The new service will complement the diverse range of destinations now available from Liverpool.”
