A YOUNG man was shot in a quiet residential street in Huyton.
The 22-year-old was shot in the lower leg in what police say was a "targeted" attack.
Detectives do not believe it was gang-related and are investigating a possible falling out the victim had with another man.
The shooting happened just before 3.30pm on Friday at Radway Road, Huyton.
A silver Ford Focus parked on the road has been taken away for analysis.
The victim was taken to Whiston Hospital where medics say his condition is not life-threatening.
Neighbours have said that the area is very quiet and the arrival of police had come as a shock to many.
However some of the residents have noted a rise in the number of police carrying out raids on properties in the street.
