It’s not just mums who should feel special this Mother’s Day. Emma Pinch finds out what’s in store to make mothers-to-be look good

MAKE space, all you yummy mummies. Celebs like Holly Willoughby show mums-to-be can be every bit as scrummy as their pram chair-pushing counterparts.

A baby bump no longer means you have to abandon anything resembling fashion in favour of shapeless sacks, now the High Street has taken up the cause.

Pregnancy wear has moved a long way in the last couple of decades.

For years, pregnancy wear was a dungaree and smock-strewn desert.

Then Demi Moore infamously kicked off the trend for making a giant feature of the pregnancy bump, and it became all the rage to wear your bump out and proud in tiny T-shirts.

Now, between the extremes of Angelina’s majestic billowing gowns, and Gwen Stefani’s cutting edge mum-to-be glamour, a more relaxed approach to maternity-wear has evolved, with natural fabrics clinging softly to curves, but still offering on-trend pieces.

Brands like Mamas & Papas offer mums-to-be all the latest styles of jeans – Ms Willoughby and Mel C were both snapped rocking their skinny leg jeans recently – and this week’s shoot also features their 50s Kitsch line.
