CHRIS PACKHAM is to take over from Bill Oddie on Springwatch and Autumnwatch, the BBC has announced.
Oddie decided to “take a breather” from hosting the popular wildlife shows earlier this year.
Packham, who first rose to fame in the 1980s presenting The Really Wild Show for Children’s BBC, said the role was a “dream come true”.
He will join current presenter Katie Humble and roving reporter Simon King when Springwatch returns to BBC Two in May.
Last week, it was reported that 67-year-old Oddie was undergoing treatment for depression.
