TICKET sales for the Grand National are up 7% this year, despite the credit crunch.
But organisers of the Aintree event revealed corporate hospitality interest had dropped.
However, Aintree’s managing director, Julian Thick, said: “We are not overly concerned about the 10% drop in corporate hospitality.
“We are in the middle of a recession and have made our plans accordingly.
“We have reduced the temporary facilities we have on site by 20 metres. It is still a massive structure and we are very encouraged by the hospitality sales we have made in this economic climate.
“The people of Liverpool have very much taken the Grand National into their hearts, which is absolutely fantastic.
“People want to come back year after year.
“And because of this we didn’t expect ticket sales to be too badly affected and in fact they are now up 7% on the number of sales this time last year.”
