MORE than 300 children came together to record a song and spread an anti-gun crime message.
The youngsters, from 12 schools in Norris Green and Croxteth, sang the lyrics to John Farnham’s You’re The Voice.
The project aims to inspire children and young people to stand up against gun and gang culture, and become positive role models in their communities. It was established as a result of the murder of schoolboy Rhys Jones in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Project director Liam Moore said: “The programme aims to prepare the next generation to reject the notion of gang culture and to see such involvement as a real threat to their families, friends, neighbours and community.
“It aims to foster respect for the police and to reinforce the fact that gang culture is the real enemy to a thriving community.
“We hope people will download this prophetic song to send it to number one in the charts.”
The initiative engaged 6,000 pupils in Croxteth and Norris Green through school assemblies. Twenty-five children from each of the schools will come together to record the CD at the Lighthouse, on March 19
