TEACHERS and pupils at the school where Ray Quinn first learned to salsa, tap and swing are backing him to win tomorrow’s Dancing On Ice final.
Ray has impressed the judges throughout the ITV series – but now needs enough phone votes from the general public to claim the competition title.
The 20-year-old need not worry about getting votes from the West Derby area, though!.
Staff at Chiltern school of dance and drama, which the former X Factor runner-up once attended, said pupils have been glued to their TV sets every Sunday teatime.
Head teacher Collette Byatt said: “We wish Raymond all the best in the final, as always.
“Everyone at the school has been voting for him.
“The boys see him as a real inspiration – they all want to be like him.”
Former Brookside star Ray attended the classes at Chiltern school for three hours every evening from the age of six to 18.
Ms Byatt added: “He started when he was three, but he did not like it.
“I think he was a bit frightened by the girls at that age, but that soon changed.”
She said Ray would often rehearse for hours on end until he got a step or move exactly right. She said: “He was always very determined. If one of the other boys could do something he could not, he would keep practising until he could do it, too, and got cross if he could not.
