Michael Causer killer sentenced to life imprisonment

THE MURDERER of gay hairdresser Michael Causer was today sentenced to life imprisonment.

James O’Connor, 20, was just 19 when he kicked 7½ stone Michael Causer to death after a drunken party in a friend’s gran’s house on Biglands Drive, Huyton, on 25 July 2008.

He was sentenced to serve life with a minimum of 11½ years before he can be considered for parole after pleading guilty to murder.

Co-defendant Michael Binsteed, 19, who had pleaded guilty to perverting the cause of justice was given 34 weeks in custody, suspended for two years.

He was given a supervision order and told to complete 200 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.

Mr Justice King told the two their actions were ‘ignoble’ and ‘cowardly’.
