STAFF at Merseyside’s main mental health Trust have witnessed the second highest amount of “potentially harmful errors” in a group of comparable English health bodies.
According to the Healthcare Commission’s staff survey, released today, 38% of staff at Mersey Care NHS Trust questioned said they had witnessed mistakes or incidents in the last 12 months.
The average for similar trusts stands at 31%.
The report also reveals The Walton Centre for Neurology, in Fazakerley, has the highest rate of staff experiencing violence from patients in England’s specialist acute trusts.
18% of workers questioned said they had been a victim of physical violence in the last 12 months, compared to an average of 6%.
Nationally, nearly half of NHS employees feel overstretched and about a third do not feel valued.
Anna Walker, chief executive of the Commission, said: “There are real lessons to be learned from this survey about leadership, management and team work.”
