A CYCLIST has been critically injured after a collision with a car in Skelmersdale.
The 55-year-old pedal cyclist was on the roundabout at the junction of Digmoor Road and Birleywood when he was involved in a collision with the Fiat Punto.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Wigan Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The female driver of the Fiat Punto was uninjured.
The road was closed for around three hours to allow accident investigators to assess the collision site.
Sgt Alan Baron said: “A full investigation into this collision is now under way, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed it to contact police.”
The collision took place at about 2.50pm yesterday
and anyone with any information should contact police on 08451 25 35 45.
