THESE never-before-seen pictures of John Lennon and Yoko Ono during their famous “bed-in for peace” were taken by a Dutch Beatles fan who was smuggled in to meet his idol.
The shots show the pair during their week-long peace protest, which took place at the Amsterdam Hilton 40 years ago this week.
While the world’s media had paraded through their room for six of the seven days, the final day was reserved for Dutch school children to meet with the pair.
But Har Van Fulpen, who founded the first Netherlands Beatles fan club in 1963, said he managed to sneak into the room and meet his idol, whom he first caught a glimpse of during the Fab Four’s first visit to Amsterdam, in 1964.
Mr Van Fulpen, who was in his early 20s at the time, said: “In fact, I was smuggled in. He did not want to talk about music, he wanted to talk about peace.
“I can’t remember what we talked about. I think I just wanted to see him, to see how he talked and how he looked. I will never forget it.”
