BANK chiefs were last night warned they could be targeted next after the home and car of former RBS Boss Sir Fred Goodwin were attacked.
The unnamed group who claimed responsibility said: “This is just the beginning.”
Police are investigating warnings of further action after vandals attacked Sir Fred’s £3m house in Edinburgh and called for all bankers to be jailed.
Windows were smashed at the former RBS chief executive’s house in the up-market Morningside area of the city early yesterday morning.
The windows of a £100,000 Mercedes S600, parked in the driveway, were also smashed.
A statement issued to media outlets, including the Press Association, shortly after the raid on the house, read: “We are angry that rich people, like him, are paying themselves a huge amount of money and living in luxury, while ordinary people are made unemployed, destitute and homeless.”
The email came from the address bankbossesarecriminals@mail.com, with the name Moira McLeod, but no group was named in the message and it did not explicitly claim responsibility for the attack.
Sir Fred and his family were not at home when the vandals struck.
Detectives are trying to trace the source of the email and were scouring CCTV images from the former banker’s home.
