Liverpool construction consultancy Davis Langdon cuts 200 jobs

A CONSTRUCTION consultancy involved in some of Liverpool’s biggest regeneration projects has been forced to cut 200 jobs amid worsening economic conditions.

Six people have gone at Davis Langdon’s Liverpool city centre office which has been heavily involved in projects such as the £1bn Liverpool One scheme, the Liverpool cruise liner terminal and the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre.

The company has also been involved in the planning of Liverpool Football Club’s proposed new stadium in Stanley Park.

In a statement, the firm said: “Like our competitors, Davis Langdon has been affected by the economic downturn.

“The firm has made some redundancies. Specifically, the Liverpool office was affected by six redundancies in 2008, though two of these were voluntary.”

Davis Langdon itself published a study late last year in which it predicted “cut-throat” competition in the UK construction sector as the economic downturn worsened.
