TRANSPORT Secretary Geoff Hoon has called for new incentives to encourage airlines to use green planes.
He told fellow EU transport ministers in Brussels he was considering linking future allocations of take-off and landing “slots” at Heathrow to airlines using the most fuel-efficient and quietest aircraft.
And he urged the rest of Europe to fall into line, saying: “This is something we can do unilaterally, but it is undoubtedly better if there is a European agreement to do the same.”
