Life for abattoir knife killer

A 26-YEAR-OLD Polish man was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his former girlfriend with a carving knife.

Grzegorz Borowy stabbed his ex-partner, Monika Jakusz, outside her flat in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, in December.

Police said that, after Miss Jakusz refused to get back together with him, Borowy took a large knife which he had used while working at an abattoir and followed the victim back to her home, stabbing her 18 times.

Miss Jakusz died later that night at Tameside Hospital.

Borowy was sentenced to a minimum of 13 years and 322 days in prison at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty.

Miss Jakusz’s mother, Teresa, described the death of her “beloved daughter” as a “terrible loss”.
