DRIVERS will endure weeks of temporary traffic lights while workmen repair a water pipe.
United Utilities start work in Spencer Street, Everton, on Friday.
The work will then continue in Everton Road, where both two and three-way traffic lights will be installed.
The repairs are part of the company’s £2.9bn five-year water quality and environmental improvement programme.
Engineers will start on Spencer Street from the Reservoir Street junction to the junction with Everton Road.
That is expected to last for two weeks.
The work then shifts to Everton Road down to Low Hill, with those repairs expected to take six weeks.
United Utilities’ project engineer Henry Bennett said: “To carry out this work safely, we will need the temporary lights.
“We understand this may cause some inconvenience to motorists, but we would like to assure customers that this is part of our commitment to improve the supply and quality of water.”
Liverpool City Council helped create the traffic management plan.
