An 83-year-old woman was attacked and robbed in Oxton

MERSEYSIDE Police are appealing for witnesses after an 83-year-old woman was attacked and robbed.

The woman was punched in the nose and had her handbag stolen by a man as she walked along Kingsmead Road North, Oxton, at around 11am yesterday.

The attacker was described as white, wearing a black jacket and had a prominent nose.

He was riding a mountain bike.

Detective Inspector Mark Tivendale said the incident was being treated very seriously.

He added: “This is a particularly cowardly attack on an defenceless elderly lady.”
